Dramatic change in weather almost here

We're about to get a weekend's worth of fall weather, or at least what passes for fall in New Orleans. It's all thanks to a front that's making it's way here right now.

"As we continue through the late-afternoon and evening hours some lingering showers, a couple of thunderstorms, and then later tonight, drying out and turning cooler overnight tonight and heading into early Saturday, lows will be in the 60s," said WWL-TV meteorologist Chris Franklin.

The cooler, dryer air will settle in overnight in time for a full weekend of much more agreeable weather.

"Finally, fall-like weather, for us, as we head into the weekend," Chris continued. "We'll likely stay under partly to mostly cloudy skies both Saturday with maybe a 30 percent chance of an isolated shower on Sunday. High temperatures Saturday in the 70s. We'll start out the morning on Sunday in the 60s with an afternoon high of near 80."

Temperatures return to the 80s for the work week, with scattered chances of rain.
