It's "Early signing day" today for college football programs. LSU is set to land some top athletes and build on its success.
When you're in the national championship game every year, as Alabama and Clemson seem to be, you're probably doing recruiting right -- and potential recruits see your success and want to be part of it.
LSU Coach Ed Orgeron's success this year has LSU knocking on the door of the "top recruiters" club.
"He might not surpass Clemson and Alabama but he's within arm's reach of them," said TigerRag.com writer Adam Henderson. Henderson said Coach O has long been known for his ability to recruit, and it's now paying off for LSU.
"(Clemson coach) Dabo (Swinney) can recruit like hell, and we know what (Alabama coach) Nick Saban can do, so the fact that he's there battling is a testament to how great a recruiter he is," said Henderson.
And with an undefeated season, three first-team All-Americans, and the Heisman Trophy winner, it's the kind of resume that makes the nation's top high school football players say "I want to go there."
"Whenever you're hot, you're hot," said Henderson, "and whenever you're winning on the football field, you're winning on the recruiting trail as well."
