Assumption Parish District Court Judge Jessie LeBlanc has resigned her seat.
The judge sent a letter to the Secretary of State's Office Wednesday and is effective immediately.
LeBlanc was at the center of a controversy after she sent an angry text a containing racial slur to Sheriff's Deputy Bruce Prejean, with whom she was having an eight year extramarital affair.
For months LeBlanc denied sending the text.
On Sunday she finally admitted to making the comments in the text and apologized.
But, she denied that she would resign.
Governor John Bel Edwards had called for LeBlanc to leave her post, saying she was damaging the judiciary.
LeBlanc's lawyer fired back at the governor, telling him to concentrate on his own branch of government and saying private texts should in no way be used as a litmus test for holding public office.
But in the end Judge LeBlanc brought who whole imbroglio to an end.
