The New Orleans Fire Department says crews today responded to a water rescue after a boat flipped at Chef Menteur Highway and Lake Borgne.
"A family of five were out boating when the blades of the motor got entangled in a crab trap," Operator Gregory Davis reported. "The boat capsized dumping the passengers."
More than a dozen fire personnel responded.
"Firefighters on one of the fireboats along with two off-duty firefighters in their personal boat located the family in the water clinging to an ice chest."
No one was injured.
"Everyone aboard was wearing a life vest and was brought to shore without injury."
The Coast Guard and the New Orleans Police Department assisted.
