Five Louisiana parishes now have curfews, to keep people from moving about amid "stay at home" orders during the coronavirus pandemic.
- St. John the Baptist: 9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
- St. James: 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
- Plaquemines: 10:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
- Terrebonne: 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
- Washington: 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
- Grand Isle: 9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Governments are telling people not to leave their homes, excepting law enforcement, emergency personnel, and people going to or from work, or people going to or from medical facilities.
Grand Isle has also begun checking ID and only allowing residents onto the island.
New Orleans Police Chief Shaun Ferguson said he does not anticipate the city of New Orleans setting up a curfew. Lafrouche Parish Sheriff Crag Webre says he does not see a curfew as an effective tool against COVID-19.
