A well-stocked pantry, with healthy foods and snacks, is more important now than ever.  Being stuck at home can add to the stress of an already stressful situation, and keeping healthy foods and snacks can help us get through this.

Registered dietician at Ochsner Health and Ochsner Eat Fit, Molly Kimball says,“ Identify those foods that you crave, and that you just can’t resist, and don’t bring them into the house.  That has always been one of those golden rules, and now especially more than ever.”

Reach for healthy alternatives high protein low-calorie frozen yogurt instead of ice cream.

If you can get fresh fruit or vegetables, that’s great.  If you can’t, frozen is just as nutritious, without the sauces of course.  Eggs are versatile and can be used in a number of ways.

A well-stocked pantry should have broths, for soups and stews, beans (a great source of protein), and instead of reaching for that can tuna, try the pouches, they have less water.

Get creative, use Greek yogurt instead of mayo in your tuna and chicken salad, and puree the cooked beans for a dip for your fresh vegetables for snacks during the day.
