Fewer cars on the road means less wear and tear on roadways.

But it also means an opportunity to catch up on a big backlog of projects needed to get done by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, DOTD.

Cleaning streets, highways and expressway, and fixing pavement, is all part of a two-week effort to fix up usually high traffic areas of state highways.

According to New Orleans City Business, crews will be picking up litter, removing debris, and pruning trees and bushes and cutting back overgrown vegetation.

While this is going on, DOTD is urging drivers to keep a watch out for their vehicles and workers when traveling in work zones.
