The man who ran athletic programs for the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department has been arrested on charges of possessing child pornography, the Kenner Police Department announced Thursday.
Kenner police arrested 67-year-old Timothy Patrick Collins of River Ridge, the Athletic Director for JPRD, on two felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) Wednesday night.
"The investigation began on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, when a concerned mother reported discovering troubling communications between Collins and her 14-year-old son," Kenner Police said in statement. "Detectives determined that Collins had maintained contact with the juvenile for approximately one year after being introduced through other juveniles between the ages of 14 and 16."
According to authorities, Collins exchanged photographs with the teens, met with them and gave them alcohol. Detectives say Collins portrayed himself as a trusted adult the teens could confide in.
Kenner Police, along with agents from the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation's Internet Crimes Against Children task force, obtained a search warrant for Collins' phone. and say that's where they found the suspected child sexual abuse material.
Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley contacted Jefferson Parish officials and informed them of the investigation.
Jefferson Parish officials have begun termination proceedings.
"There is no responsibility more important than protecting our children. This investigation is particularly concerning given the suspect's position of trust and access to young people," Chief Conley said. "I commend the mother whose vigilance brought this matter to our attention and our detectives for their swift response."
The investigation is ongoing, and Kenner Police urge anyone who believes their child had inappropriate contact with Collins, or may have relevant information, to call Kenner PD at (504) 712-2415.
