Gov. warns Louisiana not to blow off Laura

Marco is through, and now emergency planners are watching as Laura starts her march across the Gulf.

"The forecast that we have for Laura causes me to have tremendous concern," said Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards.

Edwards said even if Laura makes landfall on the western most extreme of its forecast, Louisiana is definitely going to feel something.

"We can anticipate tropical storm winds all the way from Baton Rouge to Houston," the governor said, "and if it moves 40 to 50- miles east of the current track, there could actually be hurricane force winds in Baton Rouge."

Edwards says there's a chance Hurricane Laura will be gaining strength even as it hits the coast.

"She's forecast to be a strong Category Two, and if she's not, it will be because she'll be a weak three," he said. "The entire coast of Louisiana is under a storm surge watch."
