Hall of Fame finalists include some Louisiana players

The 15 finalists for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced today, and the list includes some players with Louisiana ties.

Alan Faneca, who played on the offensive lines of Pittsburgh, the New York Jets, and Arizona is one of Modern-Era finalists. Faneca played for the LSU Fighting Tigers from 1994 to 1997.

Another LSU standout, Kevin Mawae, is on the list. He played at LSU from 1989 to 1993, and was part of the offensive lines of the Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans.

Safety Ed Reed is in his first year of Hall of Fame eligibility. Reed, from Destrehan, played with the Baltimore Ravens for ten years, winning a Super Bowl in 2012. He finished his pro career in 2013 with stints for Houston Texans and the New York Jets.

Another safety, Johnny Robinson, is nominated as a senior finalist. Robinson played for LSU's 1958 National Champion football team, and later played for the Dallas Texans/Kansas City Chiefs from 1960-1971.
