Hospitalizations drop to level not seen since before July 4th in Louisiana

State health officials today reported the number of people hospitalized with coronavirus in Louisiana today fell to 873.   That is a drop of 37 and puts the state at the lowest number since before Independence Day.

Meanwhile, we saw a larger increase in the number of new cases.  The Louisiana Department of Health reported 972 more positive test results.

COVID deaths jumped by 20.

The state also updated its estimated recoveries -- more than 134,000, which is about 6,500 more than last week. It means there are an estimated 10,500 Louisians with active infections, which is around 1,700 fewer since last week.
