It's no secret that Americans are hooked on their smartphones. The average American will check their smart phone 52 times a day according to a Deloitte market survey.

Even these people who told us that they think their own smartphone use was a problem said that sounds like a lot.

"That seems like a lot," said one. "That seems excessive."

"I bet that's probably true for me. Maybe a little more, even, with work."

A few of these smartphone users told us they try and unplug every now and then.

"Set it down and then get outside," one told us. "Walk outside and purposely leave it at home."

"I take mandatory breaks every two weeks," said one woman, who said she mandated it to herself. "I realized it was becoming a problem."

So did 63 percent of people in the survey, but only half were able to stick to their "digital detox" regimen.
