Tropical Depression Eight in the Gulf of Mexico is forecast to become Tropical Storm Hanna.
"Slow strengthening is expected, and the depression could become a tropical storm in a day or so," the National Hurricane Center advised.
It is headed for a landfall between Houston and Brownsville Texas this weekend, but is sending waves of rain into Louisiana.
"We will still have plenty of heavy rain and storms throughout the entire day. An additional 1-2" of rain is possible, so watch out for some flash flooding issues," HE forecast. "We will have bands of heavy rain and storms today through Saturday across SE Louisiana. Rain totals will be around 2-4"+ over the next few days."
Nussbaum says wind driven water will be an issue along the coast.
"Breezy onshore winds will cause tides to run 1-2 feet above normal, so coastal flooding is expected."
