Jefferson leaders stress mask wearing ahead of starting to reopen economy

Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng today said today that employees at all open businesses are required to be wearing a face mask or covering.

"We can't stress this enough," she insisted. "When you are speaking to someone, and you're wearing a face mask, and they are wearing a face mask; the risk of transmitting that virus decreases significantly."

She urged residents to only go to businesses that are following the rules which also include limiting the number of people and enforcing social distancing.

"We're asking everybody to be responsible in this, and responsibility if the key word as we look to going into phase one," Lee Sheng said.

The parish president said they are also requiring masks at the Yenni Building.

"We are requiring face masks in our hallways, in our lobbies and in our elevators."
