Jefferson Parish School Board appoint interim superintendent

Jefferson Parish School Board appoints an interim superintendent as they search for their next superintendent of public schools.

The school board selected Chief Operations Officer Lale Geer as the interim superintendent. This is Geer’s second time leading the school board. He was interim superintendent back in the spring of 2018. Geer began his career with the school district in 1990.


Geer will begin his new post on June 5 which is when Dr. Cade Brumley, the current superintendent, steps down to take a job as Louisiana State Superintendent. Brumley became superintendent of Jefferson Parish Public Schools in March 2018.

The school board also voted to begin the selection process for thei next superintendent.

The school board said in a media release, “Applications will be made available the week of June 8 at jpschools.org and at the JP Schools Administration Building at 501 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey.  Application packets must be hand delivered or postmarked to the JP Schools Administration Building in Harvey by June 24. School Board President Tiffany Kuhn also requested that the district conduct a stakeholder survey that asks the community what they want to see in a new superintendent.”
