Kenner Police have arrested a Kenner man and a 17-year-old on charges of using firearms as New Year's Eve noisemakers.

Police say shortly after midnight, Officer Chad Hoffman was on patrol and heard the gunfire coming from a house in the 3100 block of Bainbridge Street.

"Officer Hoffmann located a crime scene in the rear yard of 3106 Bainbridge Street, Kenner," said Kenner Police spokesman Lt. Michael Cunningham in a statement. "Approximately one hundred and forty spent 12 gauge shotgun shells and approximately forty six spent .40 caliber shell casings were found scattered throughout the rear yard.  The rear of the house and a dog house in the backyard had numerous bullet holes."

Police say the owner of the vacant house lived nearby and said her grandson, Will Dunn (left), may have been on the property.

"Dunn exited the residence, denied any involvement in discharging firearms and claimed no one else was in the house," said Cunningham. "Officers obtained a search warrant and later located Henry Warner hiding in the attic."

Police say they recovered two 12 gauge shotguns along with .40 and .25 caliber pistols from the scene.

Dunn and Warner face misdemeanor charges of illegally discharging firearms.

Dunn's grandmother and the property's owner, Deleger Dunn, told WWL-TV she's glad the police came and did their job, and said her grandson will have to deal with the legal repercussions.

"It was a very dumb act and I thank God nobody got hurt," she said. "He will have to do whatever it takes to get himself out of this."
