Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry's spokesman quit his job today, just days after his arrest on domestic violence charges.

Jacques Ambers resigned amid charged he dragged his pregnant girlfriend out of his apartment by her neck.

The girlfriend says Ambers came home after drinking and they argued.

She told police in Baton Rouge that she was only partially clothed when Ambers began strangling her and dragging her outside.

Louisiana Department of Justice communications director Millard Mulé issued a statement.

"We are deeply saddened and troubled by the incident," he said,  "While we did not know all the facts, we immediately placed Mr. Ambers on leave."

He says they followed policy and began an administrative investigation upon his arrest.

The woman said she is ten weeks pregnant and Ambers is the father.

Landry's website has a page dedicated to addressing domestic violence prevention and assistance for victims.

"Help stop domestic violence by taking a stand. Together, we can make Louisiana a safer place," it says on the site. "Domestic abuse victimizes all aspects of our society. Not only do our immediate victims suffer; but so do our children, our schools, our health facilities, our court systems, and our communities."
