Cornell Charles, baseball coach for Lusher Charter School on Freret St., died in a hospital while on a ventilator, according to school officials.
The Times-Picyune | New Orleans Advocate reports Charles had underlying health issues, and had been tested for the COVID-19 coronavirus. Those results were still pending.
Charles coached 7th and 8th grade baseball and was also a football coach and varsity girls basketball coach.
