JPSO has arrested a 59-year-old man detectives say shot two other men, killing one of them on the Westbank.
"Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting that occurred tonight in unincorporated Westwego. One of the shooting victims has succumbed to his injuries," Captain Jason Rivarde said in a news release.
It happened at around 10:45pm on Fathers Day night.
"Deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of N. Clark Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, they located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment. One victim, a 40-year-old Marrero resident, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim, a 21-year-old male, suffered at least one gunshot wound to the neck and is currently in critical condition."
Rivarde says they did not know initially what led up to the shooting.
"The suspect, a 59-year-old man, has been taken into custody. Motive information is not available at this time."
The investigation continues.
