Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting discovered this morning.
Officials say around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a man down in the 1100 block of Tallow Tree Drive.
"The victim was located on the side of the canal that is within the city of Gretna, however our investigators believe the incident occurred in an unincorporated area of the parish," said sheriff's office spokesman Captain Jason Rivarde. "Based on this, JPSO will be conducting the investigation.."

Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
