New Orleans Police say gunshots rang out at the Parisite Skatepark shortly after 9:00pm.
"The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday night (June 28) in the 1600 block of Pleasure Street," according to a news release. "Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim who was fatally shot at the location. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS."
Cops did not have much information to release on the murder Near Paris Avenue and the I-610.
"Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information."
There was no word on suspects or motive.
Parisite was developed to help bring the community together.
"A park designed by skateboarders, built by skateboarders, and funded by all of us working together," the parks website explains."
Online donors contributed more than $44,000 to construct the park.
The site says it was started by locals looking for a place to skate.
"They were so tired of begging for a public skatepark, they went ahead and started building their own, without any permits. And something amazing happened. City hall decided to take a chance on the skaters. As a result, the park is now totally legal and up to code."
The NOPD urges anyone with information on the murder to call police.
