“We are not advising that you stay, but if you do, you potentially could see power outages for seven-to-ten days. It will be hot and we cannot guarantee you will have any of our other services available if we lose power we simply cannot run those services,” Sandra DeCastro, Parish Public Information Officer.
Citing the aftermath could be worse than staying through the ravages of Hurricane Sally, the St. Charles Parish Government issued a mandatory evacuation order for all parish residents.
During a press conference, Public Information Officer Sandra DeCastro announced the order from Parish President Matthew Jewell calling on residents to leave.
“We’re not going to pull people out of their homes, we anticipate most people will not leave,” Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne said.
Champagne says as the storm approaches, the Sheriff’s Department will be focusing on traffic control then pivot to property protection tomorrow night.
