Lots of stars are in the New Orleans area filming television and movie projects

Hollywood South having a great summer with big named actors and actresses, in town, filming projects.  On any given day you are liable to run into your favorite star.  

Executive Director for Louisiana Entertainment, and a division of Louisiana Economic Development, Chris Stelly,  says he's excited to have a couple of names in particular filming in the area.  

"Russell Crowe, who of course has been in 'Gladiator,' 'A Beautiful Mind,' and many many other feature films, they are shooting a project called 'Unhinged,'" said Stelly who adds they are shooting in the Kenner area.        

Stelly adds that Kate Hudson has been working on a fantasy film, here.

"She is filming a project called 'Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon,'" Stelly said.  Hudson has been here before filming the "Skeleton Key," and "Deep Water Horizon."  

Keanu Reaves filming "Bill And Ted Face the Music," the third installment of that particular movie series.

Jennifer Lawrence and Bryan Cranston have both been spotted around town on separate projects they are working on.

  • Bryan Cranston in the upcoming Showtime miniseries "Your Honor."  Shooting begins in September but Cranston has been spotted in town already.
  • Jennifer Lawrence - Untitled Soldier Project, and Lawrence has also been spotted around town dining out.
  • Russell Crowe - working on a road-rage thriller called "Unhinged."  Offices are based at the Esplanade Mall in Kenner.  
  • Keanu Reeves filming a second sequal entitled "Bill and Ted Face the Music,"  and shooting in New Orleans, Covington, and Slidell until August 17.
  • Kate Hudson - in town filming a fantasy movie drama called "Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon", also starring Craig Robinson and Ed Skrein, (taking over a role originally reportedly given to Zac Efron.
