"Gutter buddies" removed from Tchoupitoulas Street

One month ago, the super-krewe of Orpheus rolled from Uptown to Canal Street and then through the Warehouse District on its way to the Morial Convention Center. But up until this morning, some remnants of the city of New Orleans' parade preparations were still left in the street.

"Gutter buddies," bright orange barriers used to keep parade-related trash from clogging the storm drains, lingered on Tchoupitoulas Street long after Orpheus, the last parade to use that particular route, passed by. And with heavy rain hitting New Orleans this morning, there was standing water in some parts of the street.

The above picture was taken around 10:30 a.m., but by 11 o'clock, the gutter buddies had been removed.
