Mardi Gras in Jefferson Parish, safe for kids and parents alike

Not everybody will be doing Mardi Gras downtown today.  For many it's the party in Metairie, they'd prefer to be at.  

It's the thrill of catching beads at the Krewe of Argus, and the Jefferson Truck parade that these people love.  And they feel it's safer than being out among the throngs of people in the city. 


This man stayed all night. "I am out here is staying all night, slept in my truck, I do it every year," he said.  

"Family friendly," said this lady.  "I love the atmosphere, the surroundings, I've already met my neighbors next door to us.  I've been doing it all my life so that's why we come." 

"I have family in from Baltimore and they always wanted to see a Mardi Gras parade, and I'm not brave enough to drive downtown so this is a fair trade," said this man.  

I'm a new mom so it's very important for me to really be able to be around people who, I don't have to worry about them bumping into my baby or stepped on, so the Metairie parades simply work," said this young mom.     

Another man put it best when he said..."We're French Quarter fun and Metairie safe,"
