When asked if the event was canceled, mayor Cantrell replied, “Right now it’s not canceled. That is more of a private event.” She adds, “Right now it is not (canceled) but that could potentially happen.”
The private fundraiser will be held this Saturday, March 14, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown New Orleans. The event helps raise money across the country to support Historically Black Colleges in New Orleans.
The mayor’s Masked Ball is not thrown by mayor Cantrell nor the city of New Orleans, but mayor Cantrell does host the event.
