Burgers and Beignets could be coming to Mid-City sometime in October.
As WWL-TV reports, construction is underway on a new building at Canal Boulevard and City Park Avenue, which will house both Morning Call coffee shop and Bud’s Broiler hamburger.
Crews are preparing to lay the building's foundation according to Morning Call co-founder Bob Hennessey.
In 2018, Bud’s Broiler permanently closed its doors on it’s original location on City Park Avenue.
Morning Call had been a popular local coffee and beignet shop since 1870, before it closed it’s Metairie location and it’s City Park location, after losing its lease bid to competing beignet and coffee shop, Café du Monde.
“We need to bring back some old-school New Orleans traditions,” Hennessey told WWL-TV. “We’re going to make it a happening little space,” Hennessey said of the new location, “all contingent upon things getting back to normal.”
