Gunfire erupted in downtown last night.
NOPD reports a murder at the intersection of Baronne and Common Streets around 11:15pm.
Eighth district officers patrolling in the area reported hearing gunshots.
Searching the area officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was declared dead at the scene.
The shooting took place at an intersection where three hotels are located.
An investigation into the killing is underway with detectives and officers gathering evidence and information.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
