When a suburban Chicago woman was asked to leave a screening of "Dumbo" because of complaints about her special needs son being disruptive, Jennifer Daly was in tears. Her three year old son Jonathon is afflicted with a type Dwarfism requiring special attention at all times. Jonathon was enjoying the movie, but his outbursts--which sound different than normal laughter--brought complaints from a moviegoer.
That's when a New Orleans commercial real estate agent stepped up. Beau Box rented a theater in Woodstock, Illinois to provide Daly and other families with special needs kids a screening of the movie.
"It was nice to see a lot of people come together and to be able celebrate that we're all a little bit different in our own ways," Daly told CBS Chicago, "It was good to hear the kids laughing in there and seeing the excitement going on."
Daly posted about being asked to leave the theater on social media to encourage people to be kinder to each other. She told the TV station she never expected to receive such a wonderful gift.
