New Orleans issues voluntary evacuation order for outlying communities

City issues voluntary evacuation order for outlying communities

The New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has issued a voluntary evacuation order for communities in the extreme eastern portion of the parish.  

The order is for communities outside the levee system.  

The @CityOfNOLA is issuing a voluntary evacuation order for areas outside of the levee system in Orleans Parish, including Venetian Isles, Lake Catherine & Irish Bayou. While the storm surge forecast of 3 to 5 feet hasn't changed, #Cristobal has slowed to approximately 5mph. pic.twitter.com/KA3aK17hql

This means Venetian Isles, Lake Catherine & Irish Bayou.

The city has issued the order as the storm surge from Tropical Storm Cristobal is expected to be between 3-to-5 feet.
