Mardi Gras costumes typically trend toward the topical, and in the Who Dat Nation, fans are still bitter about the NOLA no-call.
"We've got on referee uniforms, but we also have on big sunglasses and long canes," said one of many groups of football officials. "We can't see anything."
"We've got our walking canes and our flags that will never be thrown," said another.
Different groups each put their own spin on it. One collection of refs had cash prominently sticking out of their hip pockets. Another had members dressed as yellow penalty flags, with signs reading "Throw me!"
"We waiting, we're just waiting to be thrown, and they just won't do it!" one yellow flag lamented.
It's about the only time someone dressed as a referee in New Orleans has been popular.
