The New Orleans Saints have landed in Paris and are prepping to make football history as the Black & Gold take on Pittsburgh for the NFL's first-ever game in France.

"The whole organization and the league have done a phenomenal job at getting ahead of this thing, putting us in a really good setup from a proximity standpoint of a hotel and the training facility, and we'll practice," said Kellen Moore over a public Zoom call after the team had landed in Paris.

Moore stated the team plans to take a trip to the stadium Saturday to get the lay of the land prior to Sunday's game.

Saints game occurring amid tense, nationwide protests

While there's much positive anticipation about the game and what it means for the NFL to spread its reach to new parts of the world, the event takes place with a tense backdrop. In recent weeks, protests over school funding unfurled into more tense and aggressive displays of civil unrest, resulting in thousands of arrests and, at times, in riots, arson, and looting, leading a handful of French municipalities to issue curfews, including Paris.

The intensity has led the U.S. Embassy in France to issue an advisory urging American tourists to stay away from any demonstrations.

Despite the concerns, officials continue to say the game will go on. Peter O'Reilly, NFL VP, stated that on security measures, "That presence will be heightened with local authorities (as we are) making sure that there's nothing more important from our standpoint than team security, fan security (and) everybody involved with this game."

Saints & Paris Saint-Germain Announce Partnership

Per a press release, the New Orleans Saints announced: "The New Orleans Saints today announced a partnership with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), bringing together two iconic organizations for a week of fan, community and cultural programming in Paris ahead of the NFL's first regular season game in France on October 25."

"The partnership highlights the unique connection between New Orleans and Paris and will feature a series of events and activations designed to engage fans while celebrating the culture, history and traditions that define both cities. Throughout the week, the Saints and PSG will showcase how sports can connect communities and create shared experiences across borders."

"A key component of the partnership is an exclusive merchandise collection developed with Fanatics that incorporates elements of both brands. The collection features limited-edition jerseys and apparel inspired by the identities of the Saints and PSG, including design details that recognize the shared significance of the fleur-de-lis in both New Orleans and French culture."
