One of two runways at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will close Feb. 6 for the first phase of pavement maintenance. All aircraft arriving and departing from the airport will use the North/South runway instead of the East/West runways which will be closed. The airport says flights to and from the airport will not be affected.
Airport officials say, parts of Kenner and the surrounding areas may experience an increase in aircraft noise during the temporary runway closure. The second phase of work is expected to begin in late March and last approximately two weeks.
