The New Orleans Fire Department says an unattended bbq grill triggered a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in Algiers.

A press release says it happened about 1:00 a.m. at the Cypress Run Apartments on Tullis Drive. When firefighters arrived the apartment was fully engulfed with flames coming through the roof. They say all of the 22 apartments were evacuated.

Seventeen NOFD units carrying forty-four Fire Operations Personnel were used to bring this incident under control at 1:54 a.m. this morning.

Fire investigators say the cause of the fire was an unattended barbecue grill on a balcony.

Officials say, "NOFD would like to remind residents to keep barbeque grills at least three feet away from any combustible materials and should always be attended."
