The article includes an account of former Nyx member Kellie Barnes, who claimed Nyx founder Julie Lea hinted that her husband, an NOPD officer involved in IT, helped her hack the Krewe of Muses to find names and contact information for women on that all-female parade's waiting list.
An email from NOPD spokesman Gary Scheets states "This matter was brought to our attention and an internal investigation is now underway. The employee has been reassigned and his access to all city networks has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation."
It's the latest in the rift growing within the Mystic Krewe of Nyx, at one point the largest carnival organization in terms of membership, after Lea's social media post using the phrase "All lives matter."
"All lives matter" is a phrase often used as a critical rebuttal of "black lives matter," and Lea's use of it led to dozens of krewe officers resigning in protest and several dancing troupes declaring they would no longer march in Nyx.
The most recent dust-up in the affair involves several former Nyx members holding a public video conference to discuss their issues with Lea.
