The NOPD is investigating a homicide that took place early Saturday morning near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Knight Drive.
Officers were called to an aggravated battery by shooting at that location shortly after 2 a.m.
The officers arrived to find a 17-year-old female victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds seated on the passenger side of a pickup truck.
She was later pronounced dead on the scene. The adult male driver was also observed to be suffering from one or more gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition.
Investigators are still in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.
