Northshore District Attorney Warren Montgomery today reported the indictment of a suspect in the murder of a baby.
"A St. Tammany Parish grand jury indicted Brian Joel Young, 21, of Mandeville," according to Director of Communications Lisa Frazier Page. "Young is accused of killing his son, Kaisen Young, who was six months old at the time of his death in April."
The panel found enough evidence for Young to stand trial on a charge of first degree murder.
Cops say Young confessed.
"Young admitted to throwing the infant numerous times onto the floor and into a swing, striking his head on the metal bar of the swing in the process," Sergeant Suzanne Carboni said in a news release.
The investigation began after the baby's mother called cops.
"Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday (April 16), the infant’s mother called 911 after the father, Brian Young, called her concerned because the baby had stopped breathing. The mother was at work at the time, and Young was home alone with the infant."
The grand jury also indicted Young on a charge of possession of marijuana.
