A five car crash on Interstate-12 in Mandeville has taken the life of a 44-year old driver. It happened around 5:30 Thursday, eastbound near the LA-1088 interchange.
Troopers determined that Brian Lee Sanford of Laurel, MS, driving a 2014 Ford F-150 in the left lane, collided with a Chevy pick up in front of him. This caused a chain reaction accident among the other vehicles involved.
The accident investigation showed Sanford was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Sanford sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on-scene. The driver of the Chevy pick up, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Impairment is not suspected to have been a contributing factor in this crash.
