New Orleans Police today announced all officers involved in a possible violation of NOPD pursuit policy Wednesday have been reassigned to desk duty.

Police say the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle ran from police and crashed into the Unity Beauty Supply hair salon at Washington Avenue. and South White Street. Initially, police reported the police car deactivated its lights and did not pursue, but later announced that there was enough evidence for the Public Integrity Bureau, the department's internal affairs division, to investigate possible violation of the NOPD pursuit policy.

"Through further investigation, we have gathered additional factors that warrant a formal investigation into a possible violation of the NOPD vehicle pursuit policy," said New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson on Thursday. ""The NOPD’s Public Integrity Bureau is leading the investigation into a possible administrative violation."
