
Four separate shootings took place over night in New Orleans with the violence ending in a crescendo as a man was shot to death in the early morning hours.
The gunplay began after sundown near the intersection of North Robertson and Pauline in the St. Claude neighborhood.
Two people, a man and a woman were hit by bullets, the woman sustaining a gunshot to a hand, the male shot in the back.
Both victims were taken to a hospital.
A little over 30-minutes later, a man sustained a gunshot wound to the side.
This shooting happened near the intersection of North Tonti and Allen Streets.
No other information is known about the condition of the victim or motive for the shooting.
Around 9pm gunfire erupted on Franklin and North Prieur as two more people were shot.

Finally just before 3am, a man was found dead inside his home off Toledano and South Johnson Streets. NOPD reports the man was shot several times.
All incidents are under investigation by NOPD.
The violence has taken place during the National College Football Championship weekend in New Orleans and caps what has been a bloody start to the new year.
