The city of New Orleans is warning residents to get ready for a few days of heavy rain, and has given the okay for car owners to park their vehicles on neutral grounds.

"Parking restrictions on neutral grounds and sidewalks will be suspended beginning at 6 p.m. today and will remain suspended until 10 a.m. on Friday, June 7," the city announced. "Residents are reminded not to block intersections or streetcar tracks."

The city also advised against parking on or near catch basin, to reduce the risk of street flooding, and encouraged resident to clear debris from gutters and call 3-1-1 to report catch basins that aren't fully functioning.

Sewerage & Water Board report 116 out of 120 pumps operational, with five turbines in service, along with other redundant power sources. The city said pump stations will be fully staffed.
