The NOPD is investigating a possible fatal stabbing in the 600 block of Burgundy Street, in the Eighth District.
NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of a possible hostage situation at a residence around 6:45 p.m. When they arrived, officers encountered the reporting person outside of the residence, who stated that an adult male relative was possibly barricaded inside the residence.
The man later surrendered to officers and was taken into custody.
After a search of the area police found an unresponsive man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
