Parts of the metro area got some much needed rain on Sunday. If you didn't get any showers, you may see some by tomorrow. More rain is expected for Monday.
"The first front arrives late Monday and brings more seasonable weather midweek," said WWL-TV meteorologist Alexandra Cranford. "That means morning temperatures in the 60s and afternoon highs in the low 80s with slightly lower humidity. It should be a nice break from record heat, but it won't be extremely fall-like just yet."
Temperatures will remain hot and humid by Wednesday and Thursday with temperatures in the 90s by Thursday as moisture creeps back in midweek.
Cranford says a stronger cold front is set to arrive late Friday, and this may be the "real" one we've been waiting for. Models show temperatures may stay in the 70s on Saturday and Sunday afternoons; the mornings could start in the low 60s south of the lake and upper 50s north of the lake. Humidity will also be much lower and fall-like.
In the tropics, there are no active systems and no threats for our area at the moment. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a few areas in the Atlantic, but they will not be an issue for the Gulf Coast.
