
New Orleans Police are warning residents in Gentilly to be on the look out for white car used in a series of car burglaries.
Accordng to NOPD 14 burglaries hit the neighborhood on Saturday alone.
Surveillance video captured one of the crimes on Painters Street: The suspected white car pulls into view, a man jumps out and begins to case a vehicle for what can be plundered. In the back of the suspect car, a man with gun keeps an eye out.
A former New Orleans police officer told WWL-TV he confronted the alleged burglars, “I saw him get out with a hood. I said ‘Hey, he jumped back in the car and sped off as fast it can go,’” said Spears. “These are cowards, only cowards do things like that.”
Retired officer Freeman Spears says, “Keep your cars empty, if you break into my car you ain’t going to find nothing but trash.”
NOPD are actively searching for the white four-door vehicle involved in the incident.
