The recent trade wars with China not affecting the cost of fireworks

We are coming up on the Fourth of July and in Gretna, Laplace and Slidell it is legal to sell fireworks.  But could we be paying more for fireworks because of the recent trade wars with China?

Louis Capo with Lucky Lou's Fireworks in Slidell says not at this time.

"This product that we have for July came in either late last year or very early in 2019 so the tariff would not be affecting us at this point for July," Capo said.

However, inflation of course will cause some price increases according to John Nicholson with Big Gorilla Fireworks in Slidell.

"Yeah, they go up every year because of inflation, normally, or what makes them go up mainly is the cost of the raw materials that go up," said John Nicholson with Big Gorilla Fireworks also in Slidell.

Like the cost of paper.  Thursday should be a big day for fireworks sellers.

But Capo says having the 4th fall on a Thursday always affects fireworks sales.
