New Orleans has made big strides in locking itself in as a well-known sports city. The Saints have been a longtime staple in the Crescent City and in recent years the populace has embraced the Pelicans as part of the landscape. New Orleans is now making moves to become a hub for an even greater array of sporting events being showcased.

Jay Cicero, President of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and believes a wide array of new events can succeed in the city. “We’ve really diversified our events. The Hondo Rodeo Fest is a fantastic, family-oriented event to see a full rodeo for three days. There’s also some great headlining acts on the floor of the Superdome,” Cisero noted. Those acts for the Hondo Rodeo Fest include Creed, Jason Aldean, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cody Johnson, Old Dominion, and many more.

For those who like their sports a little more extreme, a long-term staple is also coming to New Orleans. The X-Games Championship will be held in July at the Caesar’s Superdome, marking the first time X Games comes to the Crescent City. “It marks the first time it’ll take place in our city. It’s a pleasure to have this one come to New Orleans for the first time,” says Cisero.

New Orleans stands to gain positive media exposure throughout these events that will draw a diverse array of visitors. The Crescent City is also in the running to host the 2031 Super Bowl.
