More 150 restaurants in New Orleans and Baton Rouge have been cited since the law went into effect September 1.

Enforcement of the foreign shrimp and crawfish labeling law means restaurants will have to be prepared for to notify people about seasonal ability.

"Product is available year round and I think they just need to plan ahead,"  Larose representative Truck Gisclair says.  "There's distributors that stockpile domestic seafood."

Gisclair says it is about creating transparency for consumers.  "We're not stopping any one from selling imported shrimp.  As a consumer, I have the right to know what I'm ingesting and putting into my body."

The law is enforced by the Louisiana Department of Health and a citation is consider a minor violation and are not an issue of the food’s safety.
