Louisiana restaurants are getting ready for a return of at least some restaurant seating.
“We’re very much looking forward on Friday,” says Casey Ronquille, the marketing director for Gattuso’s in Gretna. “To having some sense of normalcy for our customers.”
Down the block at the Gretna Depot Café, John, the owner thinks out loud about the way he’ll be doing business.
“I guess people are getting cabin fever, corona fever, they want to come out and enjoy a meal [that’s] just glorified take out!”
The City is looking to set up tables and chairs so the small bistro’s, like Gretna Depot, around the Farmer’s Market can come.
“The restaurants will have some kind of assigned seating out there.” John says. “Every little bit helps, I guess we’ll know Friday how it affects business around here.”
Across the state restaurants who’s bottom line has been decimated by the outbreak are taking the opportunity to get seating curbside, in their parking lots, or anywhere they can outside in the hopes of seeing valued regulars and new customers pay a visit.
In New Orleans, the mayor has rejected the outside seating allowed in the governor's latest order.
