The 2020 Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon is this weekend so you can expect New Orleans city leaders want to remind drivers of road closures parking restrictions.

February 6, 2020 Residents and visitors should plan ahead for road closures and traffic delays during the event which stretches across the entire city from the Central Business District to Lake Terrace & Oaks areas.

SUNDAY, FEB. 9, 2020
- Marathon, 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Half Marathon, 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- 10k, 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Traffic Impacts
Traffic will be restricted along the route until the last participant passes and course materials are removed. The City of New Orleans will track the lead and tail of the race as it progresses along the route at
routewise.nola.gov. At most points along the course, pedestrians and bicyclists may cross the course during safe gaps in runners. Roads along the route are expected to be closed within the following time frames:
- Lafayette Square area: closed 3 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- St. Charles Avenue area: closed 6 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
- Convention Center / Cruise Terminal area: closed 6 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
- French Quarter area: closed 6 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
- Esplanade Ridge / Bayou St. John area: closed 6:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Lakeshore Dr. area: closed 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Transportation Impacts
St. Charles Streetcar service will not operate until all runners have cleared St. Charles Ave. Additional routes will have delays or detours during the event. All RTA service alerts, updates, & detours can also be accessed by downloading the RTA’s GoMobile app or by visiting www.norta.com or call Ride Line at 504-248-3900.
No Parking
Streets along the racecourse will be marked with No Parking signs and parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking. The City offers the following tips to avoid parking enforcement:
- Pay attention to posted signs.
- Don't block hydrants, driveways, and sidewalks.
- Don't park within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection, or stop sign.
- Park in the direction of travel on one-way streets and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.
