Severe storms possible Thursday morning and afternoon

Severe Weather

We could see high winds and isolated tornadoes across Southeast Louisiana Thursday morning.

"Another possibility for severe weather across parts of the Gulf south," WWL TV Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin forecasts.

He explained this is ahead of a cold front.

The system triggered nasty weather across Texas and Oklahoma before moving into Louisiana.

"Southeast Louisiana is under a Slight Risk (2 of 5) for severe weather with the main threats from damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and some hail," Franklin said. "Timing for us looks to be from late morning through the early afternoon."

Models disagree on the severity.

There is a greater risk for Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
